Nautilus Launches Heart Start™ Cholesterol-lowering Premium Light Beer in the United States
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – Nautilus Mineral Waters of America, Inc. has launched its new Heart Start™ Premium Light Beer in the United States, which is specifically designed to lower cholesterol. The new imported light beer is brewed in Canada with the addition of 1 gram of barley beta glucan (70% beta-glucan) and 1 gram of plant sterols per 12-ounce serving. This combination of natural ingredients has been clinically proven to reduce cholesterol levels while also providing additional heart health benefits, managing blood glucose levels, and increasing satiety for weight management.
Richard H. Davis, President of Beverage Marketing USA, Inc. said, “We are confident that the Heart Start beer will provide consumers with a truly extraordinarily beneficial brew that can help promote good cardiovascular health.” The FDA has also authorized a health claim stating that “Foods containing at least 0.65 grams per serving of plant sterol esters, eaten twice a day with meals for a daily total intake of at least 1.3 grams, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.”
The Heart Start Premium Light Beer is made using natural barley beta glucan and plant sterols that are “non-GMO;” there are no genetically enhanced varieties of barley, hops or yeast used in the brewing process. In a recent study, researchers at the University of California, Davis gave study subjects 1 gram of plant sterols twice daily for an eight-week period. Total cholesterol was reduced by approximately 8 percent and LDL-C fell by almost 13 percent.
